The Great Depression By Poet Ivy Out!

I will seriously recommend everyone, anybody, every poet, aspiring to be, to get a copy of the master piece that has being put together by George Obizulike( Poet Ivy )…

I have actually just finished ordering 2 copies of this masterpiece just before writing this post..
Of course i am looking to give a copy to one lucky reader on YHP…Stay Tuned for that and connected!

He is an inspiration to young entrepreneurs, young poets that aspire to take their craft, creativity, feelings, turning it into art…This is art…I have been given a preview of some of the poems in this book and all i can say is that this dude will take your breath away…

He is also having his BOOK SIGNING IN WATERSTONES AT KINGSTON UPON THAMES, LONDON, ENGLAND ON 17TH APRIL 2010; I encourage everyone to be there, getting a signed book from the author himself.

The Great Depression is a collection of 38 heartfelt, relative and thought-provoking poems written by, Poet Ivy, who is a philosophical poet that seeks to capture and feed the human soul with different emotions through his unique heartfelt poetry.

These poems are a reflection of the bittersweet realities that life presents to us. Some are fictional and some are factual.

He has been kind enough to provide YHP and its reader with some of his poems, something that has been building the hype to the debut.

Some of his poems..Some of his thoughts…Some Teasers…

Shining your light

Shining your light

shinning your light

Be in the flow…

let go of your fear; of your need to be in control

for it imprisons your dreams.

Breathe deeply in the darkness…

an illusion cast forth by your light;

no other can take your place.

Let the world be blinded by your majesty…

a beacon to those struggling to find their way;

for it is your divinity to shine like the star you truly are.

Go; enter the dragon’s den and reclaim your heart.

There’s nothing

There’s nothing

nothing

A Poem By Poet Ivy

There’s nothing you can do to shake me,

Because…
…I have seen agony and anguish
I have been beaten up and punished
I have been backstabbed by my peers
I have mingled with failure and fears
I have smiled in the furious face of sorrow
I have been told by the doctors I would not see tomorrow
I have walked with a hunch back like I was from Notre-Dame
I have real enemies that have done me real harm

There’s nothing you can do to break me

Because…
…I have been heartbroken thrice
I have been dumped twice
Love hates me
Lust only tricks me
I have been depressed,
Oppressed,
Suppressed,
The doctor accessed
Me and stressed
the fact that I’m mentally stressed.

There’s nothing you can do to re-make me,

Because…
…I have been everyones puppet on the string
My former woman had many a fling
I don’t sleep at night cause nightmares keep me up
I have seen utter rage from the bulls
I have been classed a ‘cool fool’
I have been booed at the Emirates cos I wore sky blue
Even been forced to go to Paris to attend ‘The Festival of Fools’

You can’t shake me, you can’t break me, you can’t remake me.

I have seen saddists,
I have heard hypocrites,
All tried to belittle me
But, yet I stand tall like the burj
Even climate change couldn’t change me
I remain indomitable like a lion
Cos in all of this I heard his voice
I seeked his words
He abided with me
He gave me hope and courage
He showed me the light at the tunnels end.
He was more than a friend.
He’s a healer and he never pretends;

(Sighs)

His name is,
His
Name
Is…
….Jesus.
Please please please thank him for me.

LET ME KNOW, LET ME KNOW

LET ME KNOW, LET ME KNOW

The Real Me

A Poem By Iverson Chucks

Let me know,
Let me know,
Do I still have to be a pretender?
They like it when your life’s got more drama than EASTENDERS,
You see some folks have no emotions
Very selfish folks wish your life has beaucoup confusion & commotion;

Let me know,
Let me know,
Why do some guys give love a bad name?
Inflicting selfish sordid pain,
Not recognising a true womans worth
All playing games back and forth

Dave is a pretender, not a big star
He’s fabricated like most rap stars
They forced him all along to play this part
How long would all this last?

I myself, I play a part they rather see
All I gotta do is not be me
Oh, I’ll never win an OSCAR, I feel so odd
I’m a smokescreen, I’m just a dud,
Even when I’m hurting I don’t let it show
I pretend I’m perfect & I go with the flow

Is this me…
…is this really me?
I’m just not here;
People are just not fair
I’m a great pretender
Some people prefer me weak and tender

We are all influenced by someone at times
Something like a copycat
We seek to blend in & follow the herd
I tried to celebrate my uniqueness,
But to no avail yet; life’s just not fair
A lot of folks are faker than weave hair

I’ll forget about social contagion,
And today I’m gonna be me
Would you love me for being me?
I am who I am, but you people make me
Change and re arrange me
Even if you folks appear like the calvary in a western movie,
Today, I swear I must be me.

dud- flop, wasteman, failure.
beaucoup- alot, many
social contagion- “i’ll have what she’s having”, kinda attitude.

Earthquake. Heartbreak. (Haiti)

Earthquake. Heartbreak. (Haiti)

haiti

Earthquake
Heartbreak. (Haiti)

Sad beyond comforting…
…I see the bodies in the rubbles,
Their souls have gone up and evaporated like water,
Into a slumber, their gentle “soul sleeps”
Their flesh mixed with concrete and rocks. It gradually becomes dust & dust.

I hope the survivors don’t feel forsaken,
Though their loved ones have been taken
By death in disguise with a name-”earthquake”

What did over 50,000 people do to get swallowed by mother earth?
Has she not eaten enough from tsunami yet?

Faiths tested,
Atheists ask,
“where is your God at this very moment?”

Millions left suffering,
The rest of the world are left pondering
and wondering,
Saying,
“It could have been us instead of them!”
“It could have been me instead of him!”

Unconsolable, grieving
Sad beyond comforting,

Bodies upon bodies——:-(
Mother Nature, was thou that hungry?
Every fibre in thy body
is devastingly saddened.
Alas, Mother Nature was thou that angry?

Seemingly shattered and hopeless,
The living and the dead co-exists on the streets of PORT-AU- PRINCE,

Heartbroken, soul shaken;
Ah, I see a skull cracked open,
the brains splattered and spilled all over,
Corpses on corpses all over.

We shall write and sing for the departed, a lot of dirge and elegy
We shall mourn them till’ we sap out our energy
Our faces wet like the morning dew :-(
As we mourn & pay to the victims their sincere respect and due.

How I wish I didn’t have to write this piece,
Poet Ivy prays you rest in perfect peace.

Going in for the kill

Going in for the kill

violence

Read and think of every single line.

I want to plead to you all with these lines
Would you all be able to take in all these rhymes?
Though I’m smothered with personification
And I gathered metaphors & alliteration.
What am I without my maker?
Who’s a servant without his master?
I hope in the rain we can see the clouds
And when it snows we would see the sun
If you cause your neighbour pain
Hope you don’t feel no joy
Cause emotions are not toys
We all sometimes get in the boxing ring
But when punches start to swing
We ask who put us in there?
Cause we are consumed with terror & fear;
Mobster Al Capone said he killed no-one
But his orders dropped dead more than sixty-one
People like him killed for the thrill
Not thinking how the creator might feel

Everyday from sky news, 37 dead in Iraq, 22 bombed in Afghanistan is all we get
More doom and gloom is all they get,
Would they be any green shoots?
when would the soldier in green quit letting off his shoots?
There say war is peace
did they have to go to war
to make peace?
This paradox is proud yet
literally lethal and also
callously catastrophic to war victims.

God is number 1 spot
Can poet ivy contain the number 2 spot?
Let’s be as graceful as a ballet dancer
Let’s be as grateful as a tipped valet parker
Let’s be as sharp in precision and speed as Ali

Just cease to be callous
And cause your neighbour no loss,
Don’t go in to kill for a thrill,
Think of how the creator would feel;
Reflect richer, don’t make poor choices,
Cause your neighbour no losses,
I’m hoping you will understand
Oh, I’m hoping you should understand.

Rise above it – Fahad Maniar

Rise above it – Fahad Maniar

rise above it

So i got a message on my facebook from a mate of mine, paying his tribute to the now late Jim Rohn.

So i decided to message quickly if i could share it with you guys on the site and he agreed

HERE IT IS

He started off by sharing a nice quote from the great man himself.

“Let others lead small lives, but not you. Let others argue over small things, but not you. Let others cry over small hurts, but not you. Let others leave their future in someone else’s hands, but not you.” Jim Rohn

Jim Rohn has inspired millions and even in his passing, his legacy will continue to live on.

Here’s something i’ve written in tribute of the legend that is Jim Rohn… I say is because legends never die.

Rise above it!

You have everything within you to create the life that you’ve dreamed of.
You have been blessed with a brain that far outweighs the computational powers of the most advanced computer.

You have been given opportunities to grow and can overcome any problem you are faced with when you face it with the right attitude.
You are one in a billion and are a born winner!

You have overcome odds far greater than winning the jackpot on any lottery just by being born.

The challenges you face are blessings to a greater life
plant and nurture the seeds of your thoughts and your ideas for they are more powerful than any force in the universe

You were born brilliant and your brilliant life is in your hand!
Keep shining for you are the sun in someone’s life

Poem of the Day–A lifetime guide to using a camera.

Congratulations on getting this far in life
It’s not by your power
Not by your might.
It’s important to seal the moments which matter,
It’s essential to do everything to make these
Minutes last longer.
What better way than to purchase a digital camera?

Fill the camera with positivity,
Optimism, faith and the
Belief in something good.
This spits out an amazing picture.

A picture capturing an idyllic life
A joyous utopian situation;
Where nothing can really bother you.
Its prophetic, it’s sacred perhaps even
Too good to be true.
Now you know the secret.
Add these spare parts to the camera
Over and over again.
To guarantee a high quality picture.

Digital cameras are the way forward
Their fast. Quick and easy to use.
What else could give such good results?
For high definition at its best,
Look after this precious electrical device
Keep it away from liquids,
Disallow it from even getting splashed
With a drop of negativity, self chastisement
Resentment or regret.

In instances where the camera
Is submerged in a deep pool of such dangerous liquids
Where there seems no hope of survival
Take it to the specialist engineer
He’s a spiritual consultant at the weekends
The creator, Alpha and Omega.
When the camera seems drenched
This engineer can return it
As good as new.

Be mindful of the flash
Sometimes it can be too bright
A camera filled with wisdom, can give out a blinding flash
This flash may open your eyes to things you never expected.
A sharp and well focused revelation
Of a lifestyle you no longer need.

Good luck with your new camera
Follow these simple instructions
And you can believe in the camera warranty.
A great photo is promised each time
You take a stroll
Through life.

Poem of the Week-HE, SHE, YOU AND I, ARE ALL LOST

Poem of the Week-HE, SHE, YOU AND I, ARE ALL LOST

Favourite one of his many collections.
Great Poem by Aspiring poet Iverson Chuks
This is my fourth time reading this, and believe me, i can’t stop loving it, What a talent!!
Someone to definitely look out for in the future…

I’m lost because life’s complexity keeps arriving at my doorstep more often than simplicity
I’m lost because she let me in her world and now I’m lost in it
I’m lost because when I go to University I don’t understand most lectures. I just prefer self-education
You are lost because you keep letting your schooling get in the way of your education
I’m lost because most times I look in the mirror who I see is not who I expected to see
You are lost because you sometimes doubt the Creators amazing grace
You are lost because you are always lusting over the opposite sex
You are lost because you have dreams but you never chase your dreams
You are lost if for one split moment you believed in Darwinism
She’s lost because she’s deeply in love with him; he is just in lust with her bosom
He is lost because he thinks knocking the boots with loads of girls makes him a real man
I’m lost because all this innocent souls getting killed leave mothers mourning and siblings sad. Can’t man live and let live?
I’m lost because my parents didn’t teach me anything about the birds and the bees
I’m lost because instead of revising for my exams, but I’m on Facebook constantly refreshing my homepage for updates and news

She’s lost because she thinks she’s hotter than the sun and the world revolves around her big behind
He is lost because he can’t be himself in a world that’s constantly trying to change everyone
She’s lost because she keeps going where any path leads instead of going where there’s no path and leave a new trail
Those couples over there are lost because they are unaware that their hottest love now might have the coldest ending later
I am lost because most times my mind travels like water travels through pipes, leaving me mesmerized and dazzled.

My mate Dave is lost because he keeps letting the few good girls slip through his hands like grains of sand. He is oblivious that a bird in hand is worth two in the bush.
She’s lost because she’s irresponsible, hence she can’t think likely or hopeful of the future
He’s lost because he sees every gorgeous girl as a natural born beehive with honey filled to the top for him to tap some of it
You are lost because you never judge me by my questions, you only judge by my answers. Why?
I’m lost because my lack of clarity about some of my friends’ actions brings about cautious anxiety when I do associate with them
She’s lost because she lacks self esteem, neither does she take pride in how far she has come nor does she have faith in how far she can go in life.
I’m lost because every time she smiles at me, my heart jumps and I’m consumed with shyness plainly because her smile is as bright as a fluorescent lamp
This world is a big place; we all get lost or lose something at some point,
You are not alone,
We can’t help it,
We just can’t help it.
You think you can control it??? Get lost.
